Why Alpha Phi Omega?
1. Alpha Phi Omega is the nation's premier gender-inclusive service fraternity.
Since our organization's founding in 1925, Alpha Phi Omega has become the largest intercollegiate service organization in the United States. With more than 470,000 members across 375 different campuses, we continue to provide more service than any other collegiate service organization. It is the vision of Alpha Phi Omega to be the premier, inclusive, campus-based, leadership development organization through the provision of service to others and the creation of community. And here at San Diego State University, we do just that.
2. The Alpha Delta Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega at SDSU is a welcoming, vibrant community.
Being a student at such a large university can be intimidating. We, at Alpha Phi Omega - Alpha Delta Chapter, aim to create an intimate, inclusive place for the Brothers of our Chapter to foster strong, lifelong bonds with each other. Our Chapter is notorious for its warm and welcoming presence in the campus community - a presence reaffirmed by our commitment to each other & SDSU. Every semester, our Chapter conducts a "Rush Week", in which anyone who is interested in joining our Chapter, can meet our Active Brothers, participate in fun & engaging activities, and see if APO is right for them. Though the events themselves differ each semester, one can expect an array of opportunities to branch out and meet others in our campus community.
3. Alpha Phi Omega provides you countless opportunities for growth.
Your time in APO will be anything but boring, as your calendar will become full of activities to better yourself, your peers, & our community. In the provision of our three Cardinal Principles - Leadership, Friendship, & Service - our Fraternity enables all of its Brothers to grow in these areas. We have a robust leadership program put on by our Leadership Vice President which includes professional & personal development workshops, open forums for robust dialogue amongst Brothers, as well as many opportunities for leadership on our Executive Board. Additionally, we have extremely memorable and engaging fellowship events put on by our Fellowship Vice President every semester, ranging from foodie adventures and photoshoots to hiking and beach bonfires throughout San Diego. And we don't stop there. Every semester, our Service Vice Presidents curate a vibrant service program which features a wide array of opportunities for service to the Fraternity, Campus, Community, & Nation.
4. We have a strict no hazing policy.
As part of building mutual respect for one another and upholding the standards of our campus & organization, we have a strict no hazing policy. This means that throughout rushing, pledging, and becoming an Active Brother of our Chapter, there is no circumstance in which an active or prospective member is permitted to be hazed within our Chapter. Our Sergeant-at-Arms strictly enforces this policy.
