Our Philanthropy - serving underserved youth
We as a fraternity believe in fostering positive upbringings for underserved youth through creating beneficial & nurturing environments, providing educational resources, and raising awareness for their struggles in order to find solutions to them. We also value the development of leadership, friendship and service in our Fraternity’s Brothers and seek to foster those values in today’s youth.
Message from our Philanthropy Chair
My name is Stephanie Bucao and I am the Philanthropy Chair for the Spring 2019 semester. One of my goals as Philanthropy Chair is for every single one of our members in this chapter to see & believe that the help we provide creates a stronger foundation for the youth that weren’t born with the same opportunities we have. The city of San Diego has one of the largest homeless populations in the US, as well as a large population of immigrants. At Alpha Delta, our philanthropy focuses on underserved youth, so many of our chapter’s philanthropy/service events include helping organizations such as: Boys & Girls Club, Traveling Stories, & Rare Bears. All these organizations give our members hands-on opportunities to work with children & teens impacted by homelessness, low SES, & even those living with diseases or disorders. As Philanthropy Chair, I work alongside all of EBoard to create events that give these young individuals the opportunity to live happier lives by giving them the support they need most.
the impact of impacting youth
"One way our chapter embraces our Philanthropy is by visiting a local Boys and Girls Club. With this weekly opportunity for our Brothers to work with our Philanthropy, I have volunteered at the Boys and Girls club multiple times. Some days I would be helping the third graders with their homework, other days I would be doing arts and crafts with the preschoolers. Every time I go there, the duties of their volunteers are always different, which is why I love coming back. Going to the Boys and Girls Club never fails to give me a heartwarming feeling; not only am I doing service for my community, but making an impact on the kids as well."
